Lieutenant Chris Lininger

Lieutenant Chris Lininger is a native Nevadan who was raised in Hawthorne, Nevada until 1980.  Chris moved with his family to Hanford, California, until he graduated High School.  Chris moved back to Hawthorne, Nevada, where he began his career in Law Enforcement in 1998 with the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office.  In July of 1999, Chris took a position with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office as a Resident Deputy in McDermitt, Nevada.  Since serving with the Sheriff’s Office, Chris has been assigned various assignments which include: Sergeant, Detective on the Task Force, Investigations, Field Training Officer, Special Response Team, Coroner, Use-of-Force Instructor and D.A.R.E.

In October of 2019, Chris was promoted to Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Lininger is currently in command of the Humboldt County Detention Center. He also oversees the Hiring, Background Investigations, Internal Affairs, Training, Brazos Program and Joining Forces Grant.

During Lieutenant Lininger’s career with the Humboldt County Sherriff’s Office, he has received several awards for service. He was chosen as the Police Officer of the Year, State of Nevada Task Force Officer of the Year, Joining Forces Coordinator of the Year, Joining Forces Outstanding Officer of the Year, James Hoffman award, Sheriff’s Medal of Merit, Sheriff’s Commendation Award and Life Saving Award.

As part of Lieutenant Lininger’s ongoing education, he currently holds Intermediate, Advanced and Management POST Certificates for the State of Nevada.

Lieutenant Lininger is happily married to his wife and has three kids and three dogs.
